So today I came home from work and needed to take a nap. But before I could do this, I had to make the bed. As tired or sick as I am, I can never take a nap if the bed isn’t made first. I was wondering what are your little rituals/habits that you have to do that may seem weird to other people?

I have a million weird things, but the one off the top of my head is if I spin or turn one direction, I have to go back the other way to “even it out”. Unfortunately, Darling Husband knows this and will grab me and try to spin me a bunch one way so I can’t count to even it back out.

@hisgoosiegirl: That’s so mean of him, but also kind of funny. Do you ever get dizzy when he grabs you and you’re in the process of turning?

When I turn up or turn down the TV volume, it needs to be on an even number or an odd number that makes sense to me. For example: 10 or 15 or 20 (no 11 or 13 or 21). LOL Not sure why.
I have to have a clean kitchen when I cook. So I’ll do dishes right before I start prepping and continue to do dishes until I am done cooking.
I am not ocd, but I have little things that I do that are obcessive. Also, if things are out of place I have to fix them right away. Like if I am sitting on the couch and notice that the book on the coffee table is crooked I have to fix it. Or if the remote looks messy I have to fix it or if a picture frame is out of order, I have to fix it LOL.

I always go through my apartment before I leave in the morning and make sure the toaster is unplugged and that the dryer is all the way off. It won’t be going but I always want the dial turned to the OFF part. I also do the making the bed thing – I hate getting into an unmade bed! I have finally made a habit of making the bed in the morning, always before I start my hair and makeup

@bridalprincess: I totally do this! Same as in the car.

@hisgoosiegirl: I used to do that spinning thing when I was in elementary school! I also had to step “evenly” on my feet (so that each foot took the same number of steps, or the ground hit the same part of my foot). How weird – I haven’t thought about that in years! I guess I grew out of it.

I count steps.
But, on a real weird ritual note… I run races (not competatively). And when I get an odd number bib, I run on the left. When I get an even number bib, I run on the right.
I also step off on my left foot (it’s a marching band thing) and often sing Sousa marches to myself if I am trying to walk fast.

I try not to step on cracks.
I HAVE to go to the bathroom and drink a glass of water almost immediately after waking up (or at least getting up.)
That’s about all for me, but I could write a book about DH’s… tee hee…

@Olive12: I start yelling at him after the third spin because I WILL get dizzy!

@hisgoosiegirl: haha! that is hilarious!

Ugh, I have ocd so I have about a million little things my morning ritual is the exact same when I wake up every day no matter where I am. I could be in the middle of the freakin woods camping and I still complete my ritual to a ‘t’.
I also randomly check the knobs on the oven to make sure they’re off (regardless if we’ve even used the oven that week), make sure my windows on my car are up, my straightener is unplugged….yea it goes on.
Oh and I HAVE to put chapstick on before I crawl into bed, otherwise I can’t fall asleep lol, I’m so glad Fiance puts up with my nuances.

2 scoops of coffee grinds have to go into my coffee maker. I KNEW 2 scoops were too strong, and I’d hate myself after I brewed it at first, but i couldn’t have just one scoop in there. So my solution is to give one full scoop now, and to satisfy my need for a 2nd motion of scooping by putting a teeny bit in my scooper the 2nd time. I don’t know what it is about the 2nd scoop, but it must be done.

On my nightstand I have 2 remotes (1 for the tv, another for the Dish) and my phone. I have to line them up in descending length and if they aren’t spaced evenly, I can’t sleep. Oh, and Fiance makes fun of me for this, but in my bathroom (I still live with my parents) I have a seperate towel to dry off the sink faucet and around the sink. Waterspots drive me nuts, so anybody who uses my bathroom has to wipe down the sink after they wash their hands.

I clean the house before I go grocery shopping. I cannot bring groceries into a dirty house, it drives me nuts.
