In the US they tell brides to order dresses to fit the biggest part of their body and have the dress taken in to fit.  So you would order according to your waist and then have the bust taken in.  Most wedding dresses have very little “stretch” or “give” so you want to order bigger and have it taken in because if its a little tight its probably not going to stretch.  I wouldn’t worry about the “size” in US or UK numbers, just go by the actual measurement chart.

I see that the measurement part has been answered above, but FWIW, I’m a UK size 8  and a US size 2 or 4. I bought a DB dress during a trip back to the states and didn’t need any alterations at all (I know, too lucky!) and it was a 4

@these_days:  It was DB collection, which runs a bit smaller/ on differen ratios than VW. A quick call to one of their stores might help solve the problem, since the attendants are used to how different designers and dresses run/fit. Good luck!

@these_days:  update: it was a size 2, not 4. Sorry! I just picked it up and double checked!
