We had 3 guys performing at our ceremony, they all played acoustic guitars and one sang. It went so well, I’d definitely recommend it! I feel like it made it more personal (we are friends with the musicians), and the songs were that much better because they were being sung by a friend. I loved it!

I’m not sure I’ve actually ever been to a wedding that used pre-recorded music! I’m also a musician myself, and I would recommend going with live musicians because they can adapt to any surprises on the day of – sometimes the processional goes faster than you expect it to, sometimes it takes longer, etc., and a competent live musician can adjust the tempo, repeat a section, etc., to compensate.

I haven’t had my wedding yet but I’m a musician so I thought maybe I could help. My voice prof is performing at our ceremony and he’s very professional so I’m not nervous about that.  I’ve gone to lots of weddings with live music for the ceremony and it’s always gone well. Just make sure the person has experience singing or playing live of some sort, experience at other weddings being ideal. I have nothing against recorded music, but a live ceremony will be lovely and it’s nice to support artists you know.

missjz:  We had a DJ but we hired a local country duet to sing our first dance song, Honey Bee by Blake Shelton, in a slowed down version.  We did our first dance right after we entered. It worked out very well, I say go for it!
