My husband and I bought our home back in the summer. We had a lot to do (I posted before and afters on here) and with little time. Now that we have been here for 7 months things are finally starting to come together, decorating wise. Of course we are still working room by room. And there are still things I want to do in our living room. Like finish our little entry way and add a few wall pieces. But I am so pleased with how it is and wanted to share. 🙂
Here is a before from when we first bought it.
After we had the flooring installed, walls painted and moved in but not decorated to my tastes. Just using things I already had.
And now! We still want to add baseboards and like I said I want this beautiful coat rack/mail holder wooden box that is painted white, to add a little something to our entry way and a few other touches. Also we don’t have the ottoman out anymore. We are on the hunt for a nice tufted one. But it feels nice to have a home filled with things you love and not just things you’ve had since you were 19 years old in your first apartment. 🙂

Wowee what a transformation! It looks like a catalogue living room! I love the color scheme too, it all goes together very nicely. It looks clean, but liveable and not sterile 🙂 The white paint really brightened things up and gave it a completely different feel.

Love it!! I really want an end table like you have (the one with the metal bottom and white top). When Darling Husband and I bought our house, we had never lived out of our parents houses so all we had was stuff from our bedrooms. We bought all furniture from a discount warehouse or IKEA, so whatever was available is what we got. Now that we’ve lived in our house for over 3 years I really want to update some things to make it look a little more stylish and cozy and not just what we threw together quick for cheap so that we had a place to eat/sit haha.

pinkprincess88 : Thank you so much! That’s exactly how it was for us, too! I was only 18 and my husband was 20. We had never lived anywhere else but with our parents and had our bedroom furniture. It took a while but honestly the best way to go about it is buy things here and there when you can. I found that little table at Marshalls. It has a marble top! It was $38.
You’ll get there girl!
sassy411 : Wow, thank you so much! I love HGTV so that means a lot! 🙂
MsBeer : Thank you so, so much!

Looks really good!! One thing I noticed that I think will make a huge difference is if you put white molding along the bottom, and possibly the top too.

Awesome! Seriously, it’s amazing what a little paint and some new flooring can do! Especially when dealing with dark paneling walls! Looks marvelous!!

DreaMT216 : Thank you!
Yes. I agree. 🙂 It’s so amazing what the small details do for a room. We are still working on things, slowly. Hopefully by summer we will have baseboards and trim installed! 🙂

MargaritaVille : Thank you! I totally agree! It brightens a room up and makes it feel more open and airy. And I thought the paneling would be hard to paint. But it’s not at all! Anyone thinking of painting their paneling, DO IT! You will not regret it. 🙂
