wow. yeah. I’ve now bought TWO living social deals where the restaurant goes out of business within a couple months! (on one, I had already used it, but living social still refunded my money! I guess I can’t complain…)

The company hardly makes any money off it (I think they only make like 50% of what you actually pay, which comes to usually 1/4 of the original price!) so they are just hoping to make a repeat customer of you…

You always have to remember the old saying”Buyer Beware”.

Before you buy the Deal of the Day, do some research online or phone the business to ask your questions.

That way you will find out it is a one person operation, and make your decision to purchase or not, accordingly.

dealing with the SAME thing! got  living social coupon for a keratin blowout and haircut and the salon doesn’t even answer their phone. wtf?! i own a business with Fiance and we can’t even consider doing one of these yet bc it is ONLY us 2 running the show….we KNOW we would be screwed/unable to provide efficient service…why doesn’t everyone consider this?!?!

Ive only ever bought those deals for things that I have either been to or have heard great things about and are longstanding. The only LivingSocial Deal Ive been disappointed with is the one for 2 movie tickets for $9 through Fandango. I thought it was an awesome deal but then I realized that there are no movie theaters around my area that accept Fandango tickets!

Yeah, a lot of these businesses are being completely overwhelmed by their own Groupon offers. And you only have a limited time to use them, so it’s a pain! Twice I used Groupon salon offers, and both times I think they brought in newbies to staff the place and it was a mess. I’m done with all those places.

I’ve never used Living Social but Darling Husband and I use Groupon quite a bit and we’ve never had any issues.  We’ve bought golf greens fees/cart fees, massages, pole dancing classes, SCUBA certificatations, restaurant vouchers, etc and haven’t had any issues yet.  Maybe they work with more established businesses than Living Social?

Glad to hear that Living Social customer service is being really accomodating with a refund though!

I think I know which one you are talking about!  I bought the same one and haven’t been able to get in for an appointmet.  I even asked if I could split it up and do 3 different visits and she said no.  I will use the one I have in July but I won’t be a repeat customer, which sucks since most of the other ones I have bought I will be using that company again.

ETA:  I never thought of calling living social and complaining!  I might have to just do that instead of waiting around to get a waxing.

I’ve always had good luck using Groupon and other similar companies. I try to avoid deals for spas/beauty treatments because I’ve heard it can be hard to schedule appointments. I’ve just started using another one called Foodscrooge and I LOVE it. It’s all bulk frozen food, we’ve gotten some awesome deals!
