So i was showing as coworker of mine a haircut I was thinking about getting…shoulder length with the straight across bangs.
now I get I give off the hippie vibe, and hell, to be honest that probably fits me. But it’s not something that someone who only sees me at work would know.
well a resident at the retirement community I work at full of uppity rich old people (I work in the on site clinic) asks me to see the picture I was showing my coworker so she looks and tells me
“oh honey, that’s nice but its far too sophisticated for you”
uhhhh….This woman has never seen me outside of work where I’m in scrubs and my hair pulled up, glasses on, no makeup. So excuse me who are you to tell me I’m not sophisticated enough when you have no idea what my style actually is.
I swear, some of these women have been told their shit doesn’t stink for FAR too long.

Maybe she meant sophisticated as in matronly? Like it would be too mature of a style for you, rather than “you’re not classy enough to pull that off”? Maybe? Lol.

@whoa_its_ash: right? It’s only frustrating because I can’t tell her off lol

@adoc86: haha i wish she meant it that way but def not Because I laughed and went
“did you just say I’m not sophisticated?” and she goes “oh dear don’t get your panties in a bunch some people just aren’t.”
LMAO I felt like putting alcohol on that skin tear and being like oops thought it was ointment sorry for the burning

- Wedding: August 2013 - Wynn Las Vegas
@Laurenskii: you should hear some of the things my Mother-In-Law says to me. I generally dress like a teeneger still, and I tend to like “fun” things…which to her mean “tacky” things apparently.
She felt the need to check up with me multiple times when wedding planning to make sure I was making it “sophisticated” and “classy” enough. And when I had in fact done so she would say things like “well done, Ashley! I didn’t know you had it in you!”

@Laurenskii: old people get this imaginary license to say whatever they like…real classy.
