When it comes down to it and we don’t have the money for something we are takng out a “loan” from his parents. We have done it before and it isn’t one of those things where we have to pay it back in specific incraments and no intrest is involved. If we couldn’t do that we just plain wouldn’t get whatever we couldn’t afford.

I would say its your wedding and your choice if you want to take out a loan. I’m taking a $2000 loan but our wedding is last minute and on a deadline (he’s being deployed). Its up to you if you want to get a loan and can reasonably pay it back.

I cringe when we have to put something on a credit card. I wouldn’t even consider a loan.

Fiance and I are also having a huge reception (500+ people) but we’ve figured out ways to make it more affordable. The bartenders and DJ are friends offering services, we’re having it in a cheaper location than where we live, we’re using a friend of the family for catering, etc.

If you want something bad enough, I think you can figure out a way to make it work. And I think you can also figure out a way to budget for it.
