My fiancé and I would like to only spend only about $300 (or so) on our wedding video (because it’s really not on our “must haves list”), so we like the idea of hiring a talented Boston film student to shoot the footage (and edit it, if he or she feels so inclined). So I wanted to reach out to the local Boston folks on the board —
Do you any of you know friends/family/classmates that have some film talent & equipment, and would want to gain a few hundred bucks and our wedding for their portfolio?

I used to work at The New England Institute of Art. There Video Production is one of the many majors. I bet if you connect with their career services department (who places the students in internships and jobs) they might be able to help you. Here is the website with that department’s contact information. http://www.artinstitutes.edu/boston/CareerServices/careerservicesdirectory.aspx This school has VERY talented students.
Also, you may want to check out BU’s Center for Digital Image Arts in Waltham. http://www.cdiabu.com/overview.php I know people who have gone through that program and most of the students are always looking for things to add to their portfolio.

Any updates on this post? I’m interested in doing the same thing and wonder if you’ve chosen someone to video your wedding.

Did you ever end up going with a student videographer? If so, how did the video turn out. I’m thinking of doing the same thing.
