Would you be interested in getting married outside of the city??

Someone posted info on a Columbia wedding this past weekend and her venue was indoor/outdoor and cheap.  I’ll see if I can find that post.

Also, Harford county has Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen and in Bel Air there is  Liriodendron Mansion and Rockfield Manor and both are beautiful.  You could check Havre de Grace too there are some beautiful places there.

The Other Barn is located in a shopping center. I say that because it was a turnoff for me. But if you choose it and you like Thai food, there is a Thai restaurant in that shopping center that is amazing. So delicious! So it’s worth a visit to check out The Other Barn just so you have an excuse for good Thai. Or maybe that’s just me. 🙂

If the stadium is your thing, I agree that Ripken Stadium would be a fantastic alternative. Can you give us a sense of what your budget is and what style you want for your wedding?

  • Wedding: February 2013 - Mansion House at the MD Zoo

CHeck out Chase Court. The owner is a bit, um, gruff but it’s a really neat building in Mt. Vernon. The garden is absolutely gorgeous, and you’d never know you’re in the middle of the city. We’re getting married at the Md Zoo mansion house, and I know they have an outdoor ceremony spot for summer weddings right on the lake. You might be pushing it for $10k for 100 people there, but it depends on catering choices and such.

@smrlovingrl:  $10k for the reception or $10k for everything? Also, does it have to be in the city or are you open to the county? how far from the city/airport are you willing to go?And tell us more about the feel. Do you want historic? Whimsical? Chic? Classic? Rustic? Garden? Waterfront? Formal? Informal? etc. We really are lucky because MD offers so many options. but you kinda have to know what you want because too many options can get overwhelming very quickly.

@smrlovingrl:  Chase court is an old parish house for a church, so it is kinda churchy. I got more of a tudor-style old-looking vibe from it, and we’re not at all religious so I definitely did not want to have anything churchy looking. (I am not 100% sure that all of those words are words, btw)Anyway, it is pretty, and the gardens are lovely. You have to rent tables and chairs, but you rent those from a caterer so it’s really only 1 extra vendor and they’re usually pretty easy to work with.

We’re paying $3400 for 5 hours with tables and chairs included at the Mansion House at the zoo, which is probably about what you would pay at Chase Court only the zoo has tables and chairs. They have a list of approved caterers and the woman who works there (Jane, she is awesome) told us which were more affordable so we only talked to 3. We’re doing steak and crab cake buffet with full bar for $56 pp, there are definitely cheaper options. (Hunt Valley Catering, they are delicious) So not completely in your budget, but you could probably get close. Also for $150 you can have a zoo animal at your cocktail hour, which pretty much sealed the deal for me. 🙂

I hope that helps–if you want to PM me I can give you all my vendors. We are poor (aka sticking to a budget) so I did a lot of research on budget vendors.

Ladew Topiary Gardens is another location in Harford County.  I’m pretty sure they have a caterer they work with and have their own rentals for chairs, tables, etc.
