My husband and I are renewing our vows in February. We were considering waiting a month from our anniversary and doing things in the mountains, but, being as it will be the muddyseason and our children will be 7 months, 4, and 5, we figured it might not be the best idea if we wanted to do much.
We were thinking about Florida, Georgia, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, etc in that neck of the woods because it’s a a fairly short flight from New England. I haven’t even been to Florida in probably 15 years, though it was our family vacation spot as kids. I just don’t know much about it now, nor do I know much about the islands.
Can you ladies suggest any places in that area (or really anywhere that will have decent weather in February) where there will be plenty to do with kids, a beautiful spot for our renewal, and not an insane plane ride from New England? Appreciate it!

The beaches at Seagrove, Seaside, Watercolor & Destin in Florida are beautiful and would be perfect for a wedding.
In Georgia… I’d go for Savannah. You could have something in a historic bed and breakfast, or outdoors in one of the squares. You could have a hotel wedding overlooking the river… or you could go to Tybee Island and have a beach wedding.
Anything in Georgia from May to October is going to be hot and humid. If you want to wait til Fall, you could go to the mountains. Lake Rabun is a beautiful setting for a wedding and it would be an all inclusive destination.

Captiva Island, Florida is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. We go every year and it is so amazing. We have a friend who has traveled all over and been to many islands and he says that Captiva is his absolute favorite.

Also…. Jekyll Island, GA is beautiful. It’s natural, with very little development… so you don’t have a lot of commercial touristy type stuff there. The Jekyll Island Club hotel is a beautiful Victorian hotel and they have amazing food. They have several different areas for outdoor weddings and they are all gorgeous.
In fact… we contemplated having our wedding there because it’s been our family vacation spot for years.
It’s also very reasonably priced in comparison to other beach areas.
