- Wedding: December 2012
Hi all! I’ve got a couple of questions for you. I’m mainly looking for opinions, and ideas.
We are having our ceremony and reception at the same location, which is a lodge at one of the local parks. On the main floor, there are three rooms. A larger main room, where the reception will be, and two smaller rooms, one on each side (they’re separated from the main room by fireplaces). In one, we will have the ceremony. In the other, the caterer will set up the buffet.
On the lower level, there is a large dining area attached to a large kitchen (which is separate). There is a patio that opens out to really lovely grounds (though it’s a December wedding in Pittsburgh, so the weather may be nice, or it may be horrible).
We will be taking pictures between the ceremony and reception (we’re figuring on 45 minutes at most). Also, the chairs from the ceremony room will be mobed into the reception room in that timeframe. We are thinking of asking everyone to go downstairs to that dining area while the chair swap is taking place for a short “cocktail hour” of sorts. We’d have snacks set out (veggie and fruit trays, cheese and crackers, etc.) Do you think this would be acceptable? Of course, if it is nice outside, that would be open to everyone to walk around and enjoy as well. Thanks for reading!
