If you are talking about pulling the goalie on the day you arrive and as luck happens you ovulate like that same day the earliest you would get a positive pregnancy test would be about 9 days later.  I’d be perfectly comfortable eating and drinking whatever I wanted until I got a positive pregnancy test.

You might be overthinking it at this point, how do you know exactly where you will be in your cycle on your trip?  You might be expecting your period right in the middle of your trip and be unable to actually conceive during your trip anyway.  Then it’s a non-issue. You’re really only “fertile” about 5-6 days a month.

And I definitely wouldn’t get pregnant before your trip.  Morning sickness can be terrible, no reason you can’t wait a few weeks until you are home to TTC.

I second the recommendation from

In fact, the studies Oster examined suggested that children of so-called moderate drinkers during pregnancy ended up having higher IQs than kids whose parents were on either end of the bell curve- heavy drinkers and teetotallers – which kind of blew my mind (I’m still probably not going to drink during pregnancy but just know, it’s not true that theres “no safe amount of alcohol”).
