I’ve been back and forth about doing a custom ring. I’d love an enhanced blue diamond, but after doing some research, I’ve noticed that a lot of London blue topaz stones have a very similar colour. Can anyone attest to this?

They are both lovely, but dont expect the blue topaz to look like a blue diamond. The topaz wont sparkle anything like the diamond would.

I’d rather get a natural blue stone than a enhanced diamond. Blue topaz won’t be as sparkly or as strong, but it’s much better use of your money. You can also buy a light blue sapphire – that would be my suggestion.

My blue diamonds sparkle more and change color a bit, looking a bit tealish like ocean blue. My sapphires are rich and elegant looking because the color is so saturated. So blue. I have a cornflower blue that I love, and a deeper, richer blue that is just as pretty. Hard choice, I think it comes down to your personal preference. Sorry!

Get the diamond. 🙂 Topaz will not have the same sparkle.

Blue Zircon sparkes – I believe people compare it more to a blue diamond then they do a blue topaz to a blue diamond. here is a picture of mine and its pretty sparkly

lavenderstone: The diamond is a lot more durable. Consider how hard you are on your jewelry.

I think I remember reading something about moissanite making blue stones? Not sapphires, but blue colored moissys. Those would sparkle!

What about an aquamarine? Below is my ring so you can see 🙂 i think depending on the aquamarine you can get different shades of blue and mine is cut like a diamond and sparkles just as much as the diamonds next to it! X

I know this is an old thread, but thought I’d post a side by side for those interested 🙂 I find the color is very similar but the diamond does have more sparkle and brightness. Both are beautiful. Diamond is the first picture and topaz the 2nd:
