@sleepyhead22:  Um move.  Your Fiance knew when he set up his aquarium, that it was an apt, not his permanent residence.  Regardless of the set up, the real issue is the mold.  It’s dangerous for your health.  You need to move.

Force the moving… it sounds like a MUCH better situation than what you have now.  I would also suggest getting your finances into a more even circumstance when you do (if you can), so that you’re both paying 50/50 on the rent and groceries.  Sorry I don’t have any ideas on how you can force the issue your way, but between having to put up with all those maintenance issues versus losing some coral and saving a lot of money, it seems pretty clear which is better.

This is your apartment. You will sign a lease in this new house in your name only. If he wants to live there, he should contribute to rent and be on the lease.

The aquarium is your Fi’s problem. Move. Mold is not only gross, but a health issue. Get out of there!

WTF? Move.  And if he is so attached to his aquarium he can stay there and pay 750 to sleep near it.  Its a cheaper/better option.

You need to move. I honestly don’t see how anyone could be against it considering the other place is nicer and cheaper. Did he expect you to live in that apartment forever?

I would move. You are getting such a better deal! Tell your Fiance to deal with it.

I would move, and if your Fiance chooses the aquarium over saving $2k toward the wedding, well then, that’s a big conversation you’re going to have with him.  Adding on top of the cost savings the potential health risk (mold)…… and the choice is clear…

You can put it to him this way “I’m moving, I’m the one on the lease.  So you either move with me, or you sign a new lease in your own name here and you can stay here with your aquarium” lol

What? Move. An aquarium does not trump mold.

Move. You’re saving money and in a better space. Honestly, it’s not his apartment, so he has no say. You could always tell him that if HE wants to stay, he can. But you’re moving. That’s a bit petty, but the lease is in your name and you get to make the final say. And 5-15 minutes isn’t a big deal for your commute. If it was 15-30, that would be a different story. But mold? And not getting things fixed? Ugh.

Move, I’m sorry, but he’s being ridiculous.

move, definitely move.  you said your boyfriend “practically lives with you”.  but he doesn’t officially live with you, in reality.  so why does he have final say in your housing situation?

WTF? Your Fiance is behaving very selfishly. Not only is it not his apartment, but it has tons of maintenance issues, and the mold is a potential health hazard. IMO his aquarium should be in his house if he’s so hell-bent on it never being moved.

Uhm, screw his aquarium. It is your lease, your call, he shouldnt have anything to say. Move already. Like other poster said, he can stay and pay the $750/month rent to keep his aquarium where it is. It is his problem, not yours.
