- Wedding: October 2012
Hey Bees.
I wanted a two year engagement. Some people thought it was a really long engagement but I didn’t care. It made finding vendors sooo much easier. But now its been more than two years and I’m getting impatient.
We had some budget problems, his mom offered money, then kept changing the amount, then finally pulled all her support. I also had recently graduated when he had proposed and THOUGHT I would find a decent job… that took a year and half to happen.
Anyway, it forced us to have a three year engagement. So here I am waiting for Oct 2012 to come around. I’ve already reserved my cermony and reception venue, cake, dress, bridesmaid’s dresses, band, caterer…. and yeah I still have more to do but some of it I think I’ll wait till spring to start on. And at this point wedding planning feels like a chore.
I’m sort of over the thrill of being engaged and now just disappointed that I’m not married yet. To top it off looks like neither set of parents will be attending the wedding, each for their own reasons. So we are spending all this money, waiting so it will be nice, and we won’t have any parents or grandparents in attendance (my grandparents have past and his are too old to travel). And it feels like the wedding should be so our families can meet each other and begin the blending process but I don’t know how much thats really going to happen.
Sometimes I’m just so over being engaged– like all the magic is gone. And to clarrify, I’m still head over heels in love with my Fiance. I just want to be married NOW not later, ya know?
Is anyone else having a 3 year engagement? Or putting off the wedding because of money issues?
