My reception is in a barn and we are having a few long tables w family style seating… the food is also being served family style (passed around the tables). I want to assign seats…. Only bc I went to a wedding recently w long tables and no assigned seating and my fiancé and I were not able to find seats together. I don’t want this for my guests.
Should I assign seats, or just assign a table number? I was thinking of a seating chthe with names already at each table, but with only a few long tables this may confusE my guesTs.

I went to a wedding with long tables for all of the guest—our seats were assigned and made it easy for us.

I’m doing the exact same as you and now you have me wondering. I think I may actually do a seating chart. I’m sure some people will just sit where they want but, were all family right?!

Since you have long tables, I would assign seats rather than assign by table.

I would assign seats but either have a chart or escort cards so they know which table to go too, and then have the names also on cards at the individual seats.

If the tables seat more than 12 people on the seating chart you could break it up into sections. The put placecards at the table.

Thanks everyone!! I think I’m going to make a seating chart, then leave the escort cards on the table and assign seats. So many details that I never thought about!!
