Has anyone had to fly a long haul trip While pg? Please tell me how it was. By super long haul I refer to an airtrip longer than 10 hours aprox. Do you have hints and tips? Thx.
I’m flying from chile to Australia in two weeks at 26.5w pregnant and even though it’s ok by both my OB (i have one in chile and one in australia) I’m still scared. I just keep thinkIng that if something happens on the longest leg of the trip which is 14hours I’m screwed and it will be horrible. My pregnancy has gone perfectly so far, no bleeding, no cramping, all well thus no reason to think anything bad will happen but donno, it’s such a long trip – Santiago to Perth! I am spending the night at the Sydney airport hotel to recup and rest after those 14 hours inflight and will follow my ob’s recommendation – baby aspirin day before travelling, of and next, and wear compression socks as well as drink plenty water and keep moving while we’re on air. I also know many friends who travelled long haul trips while pg, even later than me and they were fine but still i worry. I don’t have a choice really in not flying there. We’re moving with my Fiance cos of his work and thus will have bun there.
I guess I also worry that I’ll be so umcomfortable. Those airline seats are so tight and my feet are getting very sore, thus all that airport walking. I will try to get assistance at the airport and not carry anything heavy.
