I started scouring Facebook again for my biological father recently. We have ZERO relationship and I have ZERO contact information for him. I talked with my mom about it and she pointed me in the direction of his sister.
On a whim I poked her and she poked me back. Well, she messaged me yesterday with her email and I have officially sent and replied to our first emails 🙂
She seems so wonderful and nice. Apparently she used to babysit me and last saw me when I was 5. She even signed her Facebook message “Aunt XXXX”! She didn’t have to do that, but the fact that she did really made a difference.
While I am a little bit bummed to find out that some people aren’t aware that I exist, I must admit I’m not surprised. How do you talk about your brother’s 22 year old daughter that you, or anyone else in the family, have NO relationship with and know nothing about? I can’t imagine there’s much to say.
But, nonetheless, contact has been made, and I’m looking forward to a getting to know my Long Lost Aunt 🙂
Hey, she lives in Florida! Maybe one day I can get a sweet vacay out of this?
