I think it’s really up to you and depends on the type of affair you’re having. If you’re wedding dress is a ball gown, it sounds as though you are planning a fairly traditional, formal wedding. Given that, I don’t think a short dress would be appropriate. Perhaps tea length might work if you’re looking for a little room to boogie.

Maybe add a poll to make it easier to count?

My dress will be the same for ceremony and reception, so long and poofy! 🙂

I had a ballgown for the ceremony and about half way through the ceremony, I changed into a mid length dress, and it was so great.  Long enough to dance in and not worry about exposing yourself, but much cooler and lighter than the original dress… 😀

I havent voted because I stayed in my dress all night. I’m glad I did since you only wear it once BUT I was SO tired of people stepping on my dress all night that I wish I had a short dress on for the reception. Even while sitting down at the head table, my Darling Husband put his chair down on my dress! UGH. I was getting really frustrated and kept thinking “I wish I had a short dress on”.

i voted for a long one. i would want a long one for myself simply because it’s not frequent when you can wear long white dresses 😛

My reception dress will be the same as what is worn to the ceremony because you only get to wear it one day out of your lifetime, not just an hour at most. I’m wearing a long dress. Short dresses are cute but I don’t feel comfortable in them.

I’m doing my 2 dresses backwards compaired to everyone else. I am getting married in the Bahamas so I have a short fun dress for that and then a long formal dress for my hometown reception!
