@ksus07: LOL at “huge thingy”
Many times I find myself asking for simple advice and the suggestions I’m given won’t work because of something that happened. But the bee wouldn’t know that because I didn’t post further details. I’m not insanely stressed. I’m just..
I’m also wondering if they’ll fight me if I want my fifty bucks back..

@Chrysoberyl: …in which case, you will march in there like a PP said, with the receipt in hand. They can’t dispute that.

I would call and cancel. I would explain that you want a refund and present her with everything that you told us. Say its not how you want to support the business if they are going to treat their customers that way. If I had to cut the loss of $50 I would but I wouldn’t recommend them to friends/family and let people know in your area how you were treated. If you tell them you won’t recommend them to others if they don’t give you the $50 back, maybe they’ll be inclined to actually give you a refund. If they don’t than I would cut my loss and find somewhere that actually wants my business.
Good Luck with everything!

I would try and get your deposit back. If they won’t give it to you, word-of-mouth can either make or break a business.

@Chrysoberyl: oh ok. From her email it sounded like she was acting as if you never sent those emails to her. Because her email mentioned sending you menu options, and you had already sent her what you’d like for your menu. So I thought she was suggesting that she’s been continuously emailing you and hadn’t heard back (when it’s clearly been the other way around). I must have misunderstood.
Regardless, I would be going there in person and fighting for the $50. It’s the principle of the matter!

I just don’t understand how some places can be so unprofessional. I guess it should have been a red flag when she told me her email and it was a cutesy nickname.
For example.. if her name was Emily.. I was talking to her as Emily and she had introduced herself as Emily. She signed her emails as Emily, but her email was “[email protected]”
ETA: Just want to reiterate that it is an example name and example email address!

I would march in and demand to speak with a manager. Eff this woman and the keeper of the book! A manager needs to know about this.

March in there and cancel that train wreck of a place! Also, tell her what a tool she is and that you know she got your emails! ( after you get the cash back! )

Well I wouldnt cancel if you have another restaurant in mind. If you find another suitable restaurant that is avaialble on youur day then ef. cancel. If not I wouldnt send her any other e mails. I would go to the restaurant and talk to her in person and choose the menus, set up and everything. I would also tell her that you called many times to complain just to let her know that if she doesn’t act responsible you will cancel.

@Chrysoberyl:
If it was a professional place, they would have email addresses with the name of the place in them, not personal emails.
Cancel, get your money back. Tell your friends.
I have a degree in restaurant & bakery management, that’s unacceptable.
