The Chateaux de la Loire are castles. Chateau = castle. There are a ton of historical castles in la Loire, and I don’t know any that you can stay at. So I’m a bit confused.

We are staying at a B&B in Vouvray, so I don’t have any first hand experience with chateaux converted to hotels. I would recommend looking here though, the reviews are all very thorough. Some are probably just modeled after chateaux, but you may find one that was originally a chateau, but later modified to be a hotel.

ETA: I see you’ve already narrowed it down a bit, so this probably won’t be a big help. Good luck!

I didn’t know that, but I’ve been to SO many castles in La Loire! I hope they renovate them a ton if they’re hotels…all the castles were so cold and dark. Good luck!

@unixfairy:

Witht that budget you should be fine staying anywhere! I have a colleague who lived in the loire valley for a year…i’ll ask her tomorrow if she can recommend anywhere and get back to the thread if I have anything of value to tell you !
