I’m 21, I’ve been on Alesse 28 continuously since I was 14. I’ve had no problems with it. I am a nazi about taking my pills, within 15 minutes every single day. Everything about my pill use and periods were like clockwork every month. I have had no recent changes to diet, exercise or severe weight loss or gain, nor any serious illness.
The last couple months to a year, my periods have slowly scooted from showing up midday on the third sugar pill to late night on the third day. Then slowly they started showing up on the fourth day. And this month, it didn’t show up at ALL until the 5th sugar pill day, and I only knew I was bleeding at all because I took a cotton swab and poked up there (not all the way into the cervix, of course). Nothing has actually come out of me, and what blood I did have was very minimal. I usually have 3 solid days of blood and need ‘super’ tampons.
I took a pregnancy test yesterday, day 5 of sugar pills, (just a cheapo dollar store one, but they’re supposed to be exactly the same as all the rest because they’re regulated here in Canada) and got a negative, and I really don’t think I’m pregnant. Today, I just got up and am back to no blood, but maybe that’s just gravity.
I have had cramps and everything, but no or so little blood is so unusual for me, it’s never happened before. Any advice? Have I just been on these pills so long my uterine lining is thinning to the point where I’m not going to get periods now, or they’re going to only happen sometimes? What should I ask about if I make a doctor’s appointment? Should I switch brands of pills or is this just something that isn’t anything to worry about and happens after a long time using the same pill?
Over the past 2 months I have been stressed because my cat died, but I got my period last month just fine. I have so much anxiety over my pills and period it’s ridiculous.
Any advice or insight is appreciated. Thank you!
