We are eloping in a month and marrying on a beach… I need to get a veil ASAP, but I’m not sure what length. My dress is simple floor length satin dress. I was thinking of a floor length veil to add some drama. What are your opinions Bees? Would this look strange… having such a simple dress? I love those pics of the bride standing on the beach and her long veil sailing in the wind.

@future Mrs.Merfeld: See the veil blowing in the wind would annoy the cr*p out of me. Do you have a picture of your dress?

This is my dress, it will be in ivory. I thought it may distracting during the ceremony if it is actually waving around too…hmm?

I know I don’t want anything shorter than elbow…

i would probably do a waltz length – it’s a little longer than fingertip. that way you still have length but don’t have to worry about it dragging or catching on something in the sand.

Make sure it’s a light weight material, very gauzy so it will catch in the wind like this photo from Martha Stewart Destination Weddings:

I think a lengthier veil would be gorgeous with your gown, especially for photos! Pretty!!

Do it! Floor length veils for beach weddings are STUNNING!

I don’t think I would (or will, since I plan on doing this) care how much it would blow in the wind — I think it would be more romantic than annoying! Go for it!
