Fiance and I are broke, but really need to get away for a few days over Labor Day weekend. My family has a little cabin about 3 hours from where we live, so we were thinking of heading there. Just the two of us.
Now this may sound like the perfect little getaway for us two lovebirds, but…
1) When I say cabin, I mean like old school cabin. No running water, no old vcr to watch movies on, no indoor toilet (yep, so poopin’ in the outhouse), etc.
2) Fiance is, well, not the nature/hiking kind of type. I’m not really either, but I can enjoy it. However, I haven’t been up there in years and I would probably end up getting us lost in the woods. No bueno.
I guess my question is…what the hell do two people do for 3 days alone with no work, restaurants, or internets?? We both like to read, so that will cover a good portion of time. He’ll draw, I’ll do crossword puzzles, we’ll make the love…
I dunno, I’m just nervous we’ll be bored out of our skulls. We both are like “aw, as long as i’m with you i don’t care what we’re doing” blah blah blah. Sweet? yes. Realistic? We’ll see.
What would YOU do with 3 days of nothingness??

Is there a lake to go fishing?

Honestly, this sounds like heaven to me! 3 days with nothing to do other than read, do puzzles, and make love. Don’t forget to bring some yummy food and some booze.

I would use those 3 days to reconnect with my Fiance and do absolutely nothing! That is soo us. We are actually going camping for our Labor day long week-end (next week) and I cannot wait, Fiance, me and nature, love it, and of course some booze in there as well hihi

Bring lots of food and drinks, games, books, etc. Are there places close by where you could take some day trips?

Board games!!! Bring Catch Phrase, Monopoly, Life, a deck of cards, whatever you have. My Fiance and I went camping (in a tent) last Labor Day but just for one night. I was a little nervous we would have a problem passing the time, but once we were there, just the two of us and no cell phones, computers, anything…it was heaven.
Relax and have a blast! Enjoy the quiet

I would bring cards and a board game to play. Do you have croquet or bocce ball set to bring? baseballs and gloves? etc
If you drink bring some wine, and cheese and crackers and go for a small walk/hike and have a little picnic.
Is there a kitchen? maybe take on a fun cooking project together like baking bread or making ravioli or wontons etc.

Honestly, I really am looking forward to it. I hope it doesn’t sound like I don’t want to go. We’ll prob just sit on the ramada, stuff our faces with junk food and beer, and chill out. We’ve both been stressed with our crappy jobs, and it will be lovely. I don’t know why I’m all nervous about it!
But there really are no lakes or day trip options. There was a huge fire that burned a good deal of the area, so many places I used to go around there are just gone. It’s gonna be crazy to see all the damage…

@lefeymw: BOCCE! You genius!!! I LOVE Bocce in the woods!
@travelerkate: I was trying to think of games for just two players. Any other suggestions? I’m a trivial pursuit junkie, but I don’t think Fiance cares for it.

we would def read or play board games – we aren’t really outdoorsy types but i like a good hike here and there so we would probably do that too if we were in cabin. how about the kitchen? is it usable for cooking or baking? you could try out some fun new recipes and have a romantic candlelit dinner with some drinks 😉
ooo bocce! i’ve never played in the wood but i just got back from the beach and im having bocce withdrawals
p.s. while on vacation with my inlaws i discovered this awesome game called pick two – its like scrabble but much more fast pace and you build of your own board. lots of fun – more challanging with only two people.

Read aloud to each other, take naps, have sex, play cards, cook, eat at a leisurely pace, have more sex, sleep …

Jenga’s a good option…Also good is strip Jenga (you write “take off…” and the like on some of the pieces”
Catch Phrase and Taboo are supposed to be team games but you can make them 2 person easily. Good old Go Fish…there’s lots!
