I thought I would ask, as I am on month 15. And do not have any plans yet to start IUI or IVF. I have a friend who actively tried for 3 years before she got her BFP. She is not 43. She did not have any additional medical treatments and was not on clomid or any fertility medication. I am asking because I feel that we may want to keep trying without any IUI or IVF as there is currently no diagonsis as to a reason behind our infertility. Just curious, how long did you try without medicial intervantion and then all of a sudden you had a BFP.
Thanks in advance

Not sure if this helps – I had an IUI and some medicated cycles which were unsuccessful. But we tried 8 cycles and had a BFP which ended in miscarriage. Then we tried and were successful after another 8 cycles. I know we did have the bfp in there but we did have many many unsuccessful cycles. It was almost 18 months in total. Hang in there bee – I know how hard it is. FX for a BFP for you soon!

My sister was trying for exactly two years.. she was going to a fertility clinic who put her on clomid and had her tracking, nothing worked. She actually was planning on trying IUI/IVF but wanted to go to a better clinic. The earliest that clinic could take her was june 7th.. she took the appointment and kind of gave up. She randomly got a BFP at the end of March without any help! It can happen!

I’ve heard of several cases where they had TTC for more than a year or two years even, and then right before they made the step to go medical, it happened naturally.

I have a friend who actively tried to get pregnant for about 4 years and had tried a few different routes to get help with TTC. Nothing worked. Then she got pregnant naturally when they weren’t even actively trying. It can happen.

We tried for almost 3 years before a BFP which was a MC at 7 weeks. Then it took another 16 months before another BFP which was a loss at 16 weeks. And then another 6 months before another BFP, but ending at 18 weeks. So unfortunately it takes us quite a while to get pregnant, but I’m hoping that maybe since it’s been less time between pregnancies every time, we don’t have to wait as long this time. Never had medical intervention to get pregnant, but was told I have PCOS. Took clomid for 2 days and stopped because it made me feel awful. I believe Acupuncture helped a lot to help us get pregnant.

My friend was only 26 and tried for a full year without anything. Then she went in for an U/S because her OB wanted to look to see if she had polyps or something, I can’t remember. Anyway, they saw on that U/S that she had already ovulated but according to all the things she had been tracking and basing her BD on, she was going to ovulate yet. So the next cycle, they started BDing 3 days earlier than usual and got pregnant.
Another coworker, in her early 30’s, had been trying for over a year, possibly approaching 2. They had done all sorts of tests and everything was coming back normal. I don’t know if she tried clomid or anything like that. But she started working more overtime to save up for IVF and stopped trying. She said they only did it once the whole month because she was so tired from working extra but she got a BFP. She has 2 kids now.

Thank you all for the comments. I know everyone’s journey is different. It is nice to hear others have been successful even though they tried for a long time did finally get a BFP.

36 months. This was after a prior MC which took 14 months to conceive. All in all, 50 months before a successful pregnancy.

we started trying when I was 24, and it took us 19 months. We had just gotten DH a semen analysis to see where we were at as far as fertility and two weeks later we got our BFP! (His numbers were above average anyway lol)
now im 4 days past my due date. He’s STILL making us wait for him haha!

I don’t have any advice, but just wanted to say I have my fingers and toes crossed for you…it sounds like you’ve had quite a journey.

We haven’t been trying as long as you but we’ve been trying for 7 months and don’t have any plans of ever doing IUI or IVF so I feel you. I’m on Clomid (I already ovulate on my own) and DH just had a SA which actually came back ok. I understand.
