@mrsglb:  I coordinated the wedding of a friend who had a venue like that.  Depends on day or night wedding.  If its daytime and the venue will let you, I might want some kind of drapery for the windows – something to soften up the space.  If its nighttime, get some kind of lighting package, or dim the lights and use candles.

We did a chevron or V-shaped pattern for floorplan – long tables at kind of an angle on two sides of the room, leaving a center walkway and the widest part of the V be the dancefloor.  Sweetheart table was at the front of the room.  Candy bar was in the back of the room.  Buffet was set up on the left side.  Bar on the right side.

That venue is awesome because it is a totally blank slate! Where in Atlanta is that? I think what you need to do is try to find inspiration picture of what you are going for online. If you had really colorful linens and centerpieces it would bring that space to life. Also, candlelight everywhere would be awesome. Does the venue have any restrictions like no candles or no hanging things from the ceiling? You may want to find that out before you start buying things to decorate with.

Cheap and easy way that looks pretty would be stringing lanterns.

If you use uplighting, I’d suggest on either side of the fireplace, that’s an amazing detail!
