- Wedding: May 2012
Online granted, but *he* was the one to initiate it! Earlier in the day, he said he needed to take me to “the ring store” (as if there was only one, which I teased him about). Then last night I was flipping channels on the tv and it took me a minute to realize he had gone to a wedding website and was pulling up ring designs for us to look at. We looked at a couple of sites together then. He’s mentioned going with me to look at rings before, but this was the first step towards getting more concrete about it. I’ve been trying to let him lead the way, although normally I’m the planner/organizer.
I haven’t actually picked out a ring yet, just have some ideas of elements I like/dislike, so I’ve now got to get on with researching and finding the perfect ring, since his perspective was “it’s your ring, what do you want?” I’m still hoping he’ll schedule a trip for us together to look at them in person rather than just looking online (it’s hard for me know yes, though I know no), but this way I’ll have a better idea.
If you read my earlier post (imaginary conversations), he just visited a friend of his who apparently told him that he ought to marry me. Gotta love friends who give the kick at the right moment. 🙂
ETA: We also talked timing and he’s on board with a wedding next summer. He initially said fall (which works with my wanting a year to plan and with my family’s vacation celebrating my parents 40th, planned likely in April), but agreed with me that Memorial Day weekend could be nice as well because that’s when we started to date. I had been getting sad as we got closer that Mem Day might not be possible, so I’m glad it’s back on as an option. Now just to get engaged soon so I can tell my family why I’d like the vacation in Feb instead of April, before they book things! Either way though, I’m happy we’re actually moving forward and he’s bringing it up much more frequently now.
