@HMM_K:  The whole “get your ring cleaned and checked everything six months” meme is bogus.

I did that for a a couple of years, then forgot about it. 25 years later–my ring needed a couple of prongs replaced. Any jeweler will do it.–Done !

You don’t need a chain store warranty. They want to get  you into the store to sell you more stuff.

@HMM_K:  I also had it sized up from 5.5 to 7, so yes it was prciey at $200.00 But it took 25 years for that to be needed. Gold is wildly expensive now, so I would htink part of that was the cost of the gold.

@HMM_K:  In addition to what a PP mentioned, I would like to add.

DO NOT LET THE ETSY SELLER SET THE DIAMOND.

If you have to ship the diamond off,

a) Things do occasionally get lost in the post.

b) They could very easily set a CZ/diamond simulant or a diamond of lesser quality, and keep yours. You never know.

When you get the setting, take it to a jeweler that does their work IN-HOUSE. My Fiance purchased my stone loose and had it set at the jewelers- they have BIG OPEN windows into the jeweler’s workshop so you can physically *watch* them do it.
