- Wedding: November 2012
Looking back, nope it wasn’t worth all the stress, money, and little bit of “drama” that happened for one day. I wanted to elope from day 1 when my Darling Husband and I got engaged, just a small affair with our parents and a few of our closest friends…then have a big party later that wouldn’t necessarily have been a reception but more of a casual affair with lots of good food and great music. But my Darling Husband really wanted to have the wedding so his family could be there to celebrate with him. So I gave in and said yes to the wedding and we are now lots of $$$ poorer.
I see the value of why people who want to have nice large affairs but I think having been a bride in my 30’s I was more focused on my fiance, what our vows meant, and just being able to celebrate in private. The day went by so fast that I hardly remember any of it…thank goodness for a videographer I guess, lots of things went wrong, the entire day ran late, and we had party crashers. Yes, it was nice to see some family I hadn’t seen in a while but I totally regret spending the crapload of money we did for our wedding. Perhaps I may change our mind after getting our wedding photos this weekend but if I could rewind time, I would have been 100% okay with eloping and having saved the money we spent on building our lives over spending it on 1 day.
