Le Bar in the Sofitel at 15th and H is beautiful.  POV Lounge, in the new W Hotel, has amazing views.

No, I don’t think either have dancing.  And honestly, I have yet to find an upscale lounge in D.C. with good dancing – and I’ve been here for almost 9 years.  It seems like for dancing, the choices are either skanky clubs, college bars, or big venues like 9;30 Club.  If you are willing to go a little outside of DC (in Arlington), then I can recommend Eleventh Street Lounge (http://www.eleventhstreetlounge.com), Clarendon Ballroom (although it’s a little bit of a pick up scene), or Iota – they’re all Metro-accessible and near the Clarendon metro stop.

maybe Local 16 or Rock and Roll Hotel? or 18th st Lounge? or Churchkey (don’t think there’s dancing, but it’s awesome)? Fi and I tend toward dive-ier places, so if apologies if these aren’t the looks you were hoping for, but they’re the loungier places I could think of off the top of my head 🙂

What time is your after party starting?  A lot of places I go that fit that description will be pretty packed around 11pm, like 18th Street Lounge sounds perfect, but at 11pm there will probably be a line…

Check out Gazuza and Science Club in Dupont.  I know Science Club has some dancing and I think you can reserve space for cheap to free there.  Also, Masa 14 is awesome and has a dj later in the evening too.
