Anything by Stephen Starr. El Vez has incredible margaritas and guacamole and…well, everything. It is more on the pricey side but totally worth it. Roy’s was great but it shut down last year. I’m actually going to Nineteen tomorrow, never been before but I hear wonderful things. Parc is another one I hear good things about. Pod is AMAZING. Went there last winter.

@ButterflyDoll:  i live here =) i love everything lol.  bleu is more a lounge than really a restaurant.  starr has great places but i would pick something unique to philly a lot of his stuff is in AC and NYC too.  Pod is awesome I agree there.  Jose Garces’s stuff is amazing I’ve been going for years now (pre iron chef fame).  Amada and Chifa are my two favs.  Lolita is a nice little mexican byo thats on my fav list also.  Feel free to PM me if you want.

Some of my favorites:  The Oyster House.  Zahav.  Sampan.  Buddakan.  Tequillas.  Garces Trading Company.  Chifa.  Silk City Diner.  anything by Stephen Starr is a safe bet, but I would avoid Jones.  It’s just mediocre.  and anything by Jose Garces is fantastic.  I will stop here as I can go on and on.

@ButterflyDoll:  ive never been there as i tend to go to the northeast for my sushi as it is much much cheaper.  you should def check out reading terminal market and browse the food spots in there.  and the occassional amish person.

eta:  el rey by starr is one of his cheaper alternatives and very very good.

I just had an amazing meal at Cuba Libre last night. SO GOOD. Also love:

Monk’s for mussels & good beer

Aqua for thai

Standard Tap for the best burger in the city

Pietro’s for great pizza & non-pretentious italian

The Corner- really delicious, fresh food. yum yum yum

Barbuzzo

Raw for sushi

I would stay away from Bleu Martini- kind of a weird, non-native philly spot.
