Since your profile says you’re from Algonac you may want to check out the lady I’m looking into. She has lots of great reviews online and her prices seem very reasonable. I’m going to have my first alteration this month and can let you know how that goes if you want.

Here’s her website:

ETA: Sorry forgot to mention she is in Utica. I know it’s a bit of a drive from Algonac, but if I remember correctly she is near hall road.

@xlittlemissbridex: Great! I’ll let you know how mine goes for sure! I used to live out in Fair Haven and went to Anchor Bay and Algonac so I know how bad the drive is from there… I hated taking the river road during rush hour!

Oh my Future Sister-In-Law also knows a lady who lives off of Jefferson and does fantastic alterations. I’m not sure of her prices, but I can see about getting her number if you want to compare before having them done. I found out about her after making my appointment, but I may call to just to see.

LittleMiss, I know of a good seamstress in Saint Clair Shores. She does great work and is affordable. If you’re interested I can give you the information. Send me a Private Message.

You would have to call a seamstress and see. You may have better luck with them if you can haggle down their prices. It would also depend on the type of bustle you are having done and how intensive the work on the hem is. I’ll send you the number in a message when my Future Sister-In-Law gives it to me.

ETA: Don’t forget to figure in the cost of gas for how far out you have to drive! If you can find a seamstress closer to home that might save you a pretty penny.

@xlittlemissbridex: Pfft night owl? Today weddingbee has been an all day addiction. I’m on top of the leader board for once. lol I needed it to keep me going on invites… At least when I took breaks I was reminded to work on wedding stuff!

Oh and you’re welcome! I’m happy I was able to help a local bee! I don’t normally find a lot of other bees from the metro detroit area on the boards. There used to be bee meet ups for our area when I first joined.

That’s great that you only have a few things left to do! I’m going crazy with all the stuff I have to get done… Be forewarned though, weddingbee can suck you in and you won’t even realize you’ve been on for ages. It’s terrible…

I didn’t go to any of the meetups. I wish I had, but Fiance and I had been thinking of pushing the date back at that point. He had been recently laid off and I just really wasn’t in the mood to meet new people. I’m a little introverted too so I was really nervous at the idea of a meetup. I’m great at participating in a conversation, but I can’t start one to save my life so trying to be social is kind of awkward.

@xlittlemissbridex: Yep… this is the site I love to hate.

Thanks for the well wishes. : ) He’s been laid off twice since we got engaged 2 1/2 years ago so we’ve managed to figure out tight money issues pretty well. Let’s just say we figured out how to budget better pretty darn quick! I’m sorry you had to deal with the same thing awhile ago. : ( It’s not fun. We’re doing alright now and I hope you two are doing fine too!
