You will have a hard time finding a wedding venue within the city of Newton itself, as it is actually quite surburbian… but if you are just looking for a venue that’s near Newton (even within a 20-minute radius), you will greatly increase your options.

how far outside Newton are you willing to go?

what kind of a venue are you looking for? hotel? country club? mansion/estate?

and how many guests do you think you’ll have?

I might have some suggestions for you 🙂

There are many, many options around the Boston area.

If you could provide a few more details, it would help narrow it down!

Newton is closely surrounded by a number of towns with many options. This is a densely packed area of the state and I would recommend not limiting your search by town name. Start by looking at locations around “Boston” and when you see something you like, take a quick peek at a map and then you can see where it is in relation to Newton.

There are a lot of great restaurants that people have hosted smaller weddings at in Cambridge and Boston that you might like. Prices will more than likely be higher than VA, just a heads up.

@fandango1974: You should check out the Lyman Estate in Waltham, Commander’s Mansion in Watertown, the Commandant’s House in the Charlestown Navy Yard, or the Hampshire House in Boston.

if you’re only inviting 50 people, you could also consider a restaurant wedding: Upstairs on the Square in Cambridge, Oleana also in Cambridge, or Mistral Bistro in Boston.
