About 2.5 years ago I graduated with my masters degree in social work. It took me about 6 months to find my first job. I have to say that was one of the worst 6 months of my life, most of which I attribute to just the awkwardness of transitioning from student to launching a career. In the process I learned a ton about how to successfully land a job. Now I’m back at it again, since I’ve gotten married and moved to a new city. I’m trying to think outside the box for opportunities to network with people and find a job, since up to 60% of the job market/available positions are found through people you know and not advertised. Professional organizations (ie national association of social workers), alumni associations, etc…… am I missing anything?
