Hey There Hivemates,
So we’ve (the FH and I) been watching a ton of wedding shows – natch – and I’ve noticed a new trend for serving the salad at the reception in a martini glass. I think it’s super cute and of course I want to (eh hem) “borrow it” for my reception. But not being one to blindly follow a trend, I’m looking for a new take on the idea. I am, however, drawing a blank. I thought margarita glass, but I don’t know that seems a little too easy.
Any brighter ideas bees??

Yeah I love that idea! I was thinking of doing a potato and salad bar served the same way. I think it is cute and unique. I’ve seen it on TV too, but never at a wedding I’ve actually been to.

How about salad in a soup bowl.

How about in a mason jar? I personally love the martini glass idea and was thinking about it before I even read your post. I know I’m not supposed to blatantly promote anything, but I could paint them for you if you want to convo me about that.

I restaurant once served salad in a round ramekin. They turned the ramekin over on the plate and lifted it once they got to the table. The salad stayed in the same shape as the ramekin. The presentation was very impressive!

What kind of venue is it, and do they have access to enough martini/margarita glasses for your guests? We had to rent eveything and had to get double the amount of guests in martini glass rentals for our mashed potato bar. I’m not sure how much salad you’d be able to fit in one or how easy it would be to eat without everything falling out. I’d practice at home first to see if it’s something you’d really like to do. Now I’m curious!
Look at these! Some I would never have thought of using.

Those are some MONEY ideas!! Thanks Bees
@smyley: The reception is in a yacht club and they do not have enough martini glasses for all my guests. We would have to rent them or provide them ourselves… Also, thanks for the link, there are some excellent edible ideas there that would eliminate the need for the rental, which my father will kindly thank you for LOL.

@MrsYoung0325: What a coincidence! Ours was at a yacht club too. 🙂
The martini glasses were $.64 each and we ordered 200. If you can use something else it would be perfect!

If you’re going to buy them, you could use them as a favor, so you’re not stuck with 200 martini glasses.
