Hi Bees! I have just started planning for my wedding, as I just got engaged, and already my first two venue choices are out. (Geez…and I thought I was worrying about it too early)
My first idea was the Trethewey House – but just went for a walk around Mill Lake today and checked out the house’s grounds and was quite dissapointed. Too much traffic noise, and it was quite run down.
Second option we checked out was Saar Bank Farms – I emailed and got a speedy reply…but they have all the dates held for next year up until October 2013….booo!
So, I am looking for an indoor/outdoor rustic type venue for a not to crazy price (hoping for around $1000)
I want to be able to get my own catering, as we am going to be doing it as a garden party/afternoon tea type thing with the ceremony and reception at the same location.
We are looking for something around Abbotsford…I would go as far west as Coquitlam, and as far east as Harrison.
Asking too much?
Next on my list to check out is the Clayburn Village Schoolhouse.
Thanks In Advance for any help 🙂

@nessa9116: I was going to suggest clayburn. I thought it was very charming.
Also in Langley there’s a b&b up towards colossus that’s name escapes me at the moment, and another out toward abbotsford called barkley brook I think?

@nessa9116: We were supposed to get married at the clayburn village church and than have the reception at the schoolhouse but they double booked us a few months before our wedding! They didnt even have the respect to return our calls when we would call them to find out what was going on. They were trying to stall us so they could have more time not even caring that we didnt have much time to find a different hall! But in the end it worked out for us better not going there. Our new place is at straiton hall in sumas mountain just up the hill from clayburn. Its bigger and already has some decorations and less restrictions. So happy it turned out this way! Our guests can even tent or camp on the grounds to save money or if they are too drunk to drive lol. Im just saying be careful when dealing with clayburn. Wouldnt want the same thing happening to you!!

How many people are you having at your wedding?
I was looking for Abbotsford but we decided to drive into Burnaby because the Diamond Alumni Centre at SFU is so nice: http://www.sfu.ca/alumni/benefits/dac.html
Someone recommended the Legacy centre at Rotary park. Also, have you thought about going into Harrison? The hotsprings hotel is nice. My photography recommended Fraser River Lodge: http://fraserriverlodge.com/ Here are photos from a wedding she did there: http://www.alexandrahuntblog.com/2011/12/27/tamara-nolan-fraser-river-lodge-wedding-alexandra-hunt-photography/
Good luck and let us know how you do!

What bothers me about Clayburn School is that they only allow you to use Klassic Katering…. so what seems to be an inexpensive venue turns out to cost thousands in catering.

Saar bank farms is way more expensive than $1000 and so are some if the other suggestions here. We were extremely disappointed w teetheway too I suggest Minter gardens for the ceremony
