I am looking for a wedding venue, both ceremony and reception, in the LA area. This could include Malibu, Santa Monica, Marina del Ray, and all the way down to Long Beach. We will have about 85 guests.
My fiance and I really want to have a wedding overlooking the beach but not necessarily on the sand 🙂 So most likely the ceremony outside and the reception inside (but could be outside as well!) We want to find a unique and affordable venue, as all of the ones we have looked at are really pricey :/ It would be great to keep it under $3000 for the venue.
If anyone has any advice on more than the venue (transportation, photographers, officiants), that would be great too! We are going to be getting married in June 2014.

Wow, that’s kind of a tall order to ask on an internet forum, basically asking us to plan your wedding hehe
Why not narrow it down to some specifics, since you basically kept all of southern california into your request. You may not need transportation at some venues. You may not need an outside caterer at others.
You also only listed a budget for venue rental. Your venue may be cheap, but if they only allow certain caterers, you could spend $75-100 pp on pricey catering, and only have budget for one photographer and not the usual teamsof wedding photogs.
You should probably do some research, decide on some things you really DO like, things that you don’t like, etc. You need to do the research on venue types (some you can’t park on site so you need to hire buses, some have free parking but only allow a short list of caterers, some are all outside only so you need to bring in everything, including heaters, and on and on and on).
Find out your preferences, search the boards, etc. And then come back and ask.
Beachside Venues that I know well include:
Gindling Hilltop Camp (beautiful modern facility)
