It just so happens i spent a week in kauai and got back two days ago so i can definitley recommend some things to do. Your staying on the north shore which is the wettest part of the island. Two good snorkel beaches are kee beach on the north side or on the opposite side poipu beach. I peraonally thought poipu was the best. You get to see a lot of exotic fish and is definitley better for that. Queens bath is in Princeville. Its a tidal pool that is massive and you can swim in it when the tide isnt up. Tunnels beach on the north shore is my favorite beach because its beautiful plus there are caves and waterfalls their. We did an excursion when we were there. It was a na pali coastline  tour. Shows you the side of the island you wouldnt be able to get to without hiking in for hours. Saw tons of humpback whales and sea turtles alobg the way. One thing to eat is shaved ice. Trust me its amazing and can be found at hanalei bay next to bubbas burgers area not sure where you can find one in princeville. We also visited black sand beach, rum plantation for free tasting, didnt get to go to glass beach but its a beach where the would be sand is actually tiny weathered pieces of glass, and booked but didnt get to water tube through the sugar plantation. Apparently they didnt have enough water that day but i hear its a must do. Sorry for the long reply i just loved kauai. If you want any more info just let me know.

My Fiance and I will be in Oahu in May for 2 weeks. We decided to travel from island to island for the last week. Maybe you and your husband can think about visiting another island?

mollykressig:  We did a flight with Wings over Kauai and it was breathtaking. Other than that agree with pp’s about Kee’s beach (though when we went parking was a nightmare) and poipu.

We just got back. We stayed on the south shore.

We did a helicopter ride and while it was expensive it was totally worth it. Since we did it at the start of our trip it gave us great ideas for things to do. We spent two days hiking Waimea Canyon and Kokee SP. The Canyon Trail in Waimea Canyon is only like four miles round trip and takes you to a ledge that overlooks the entire canyon. It also takes you to Waipoo Falls. The Heritage Trail on the southern coast is a nice morning activity too.

We did do the mountain tubing and it was not fun. The water was freezing cold.

We also did the ATV tour and that was fun.

We tried doing a sunset cruise, but the ocean conditions were bad, so we ended up going dolphin and whale watching.

One thing you might want to think about doing is taking the small flight to Oahu and doing Pearl Harbor. We did it. We got our tickets for like $160 roundtrip per person. We used the city buses which picked us up and dropped us off right where we needed to be. If you do this activity is it def. a full day trip, so don’t plan a flight back until after six.

Anyway, hike. That’s my suggestion. I just posted pictures from my trip and if you PM me I would be happy to give you the link.
