I’m looking for an affordable barn venue for my wedding. My fiancé lives in DC and I live in Philly. I’m from PA and he’s from Jersey. We are looking for a barn venue that can fit 125 people within a 3 hour radius that is affordable. Not sure if it’s possible but we’d like to keep the venue fee below 2,000. Looking for a place that lets you bring in your own caterer and vendor. Any suggestions?????

We got married at Pond view farm in Whitehall, MD. It was $5000 for the whole day but they may have some type of deal where it is cheaper for three hours. We were also able to bring in our catering etc except we ended up using their caterer because it was only $17 per person! And we had about 130 people

Look into Landis Valley barn in Lancaster PA! I think they might be on the cheaper side.

aleash262 : I was at Creeks Edge Winery recently (outside Leesburg, VA) — it’s a gorgeous location with a barn.

If you’re interested in a lodge instead of a barn, I can give you information about our venue in Montgomery County, MD. Just let me know. 🙂

aleash262 : The caterer was the pond view pit crew… The family that owns the farm also runs their own pit beef etc company. We had pit turkey, bbq chicken, and pig, and then three sides plus salads. We did do a cocktail hour with food, and I can’t remember off the top of my head how much that cost but it was reasonable. I think the apps ranged from like $2/person to $8/person depending on what you got.
if you’re interested, I could dig up my spreadsheet with all the costs broken down and send that to you somehow!

aleash262 : I can give you info here instead of e-mailing. 🙂 It’s called The Lodge at Little Seneca Creek, and here’s their website:
http://www.montgomeryparks.org/parks-and-trails/lodge-little-seneca-creek/. If you’re a resident of MoCo, it’s about $500 less than if you aren’t. The actual cost depends on the day/time of year, like most venues. You can pick your own caterer (we’re going with BBQ from PIGS in Frederick, MD, which comes out to about $35/person for food, plates and stuff, and servers).
They have open houses every month, I think, so you don’t have to schedule a time to go if you’re available during one of those times. 🙂
After looking over the website, if you’re interested, feel free to let me know if you have other questions!

The Gables in Chadds Ford (PA) is really nice and affordable. http://thegablesatchaddsford.com/
They provide catering and open bar so you don’t have to worry about finding outside vendors. I was at a wedding there this summer and the ceremony was outside on the patio/courtyard, reception in the restored barn. It was really charming and has a laid back feel.

I got married at the Prallsville Mill in Stockton, NJ. It is right along the canal not far down the road from the Washinton Crossing, PA area. You literally just rent the barn and you hire your own caterer, rentals, etc. We used Emily’s Cafe and Catering in Pennington, NJ (I would recommend them over and over, they were fabulous).
I believe the rental fee was right around 2k. We had 130 people at our wedding, but I think it can hold slightly more (we were limited because of the layout using the farmhouse tables as opposed to standard round tables)
Also check out Rose Bank Winery in Newtown, PA. I think their rental fee is higher though…
Here are some photos from my wedding (unfortunately there aren’t a ton of the actual venue, but you can always google ‘Prallsville Mill Wedding’ and there are a lot of results)

Have you checked out Tyler Arboretum in Media, PA? They have a beautiful barn that was just renovated and it is about 30 minutes outside of Philly. Their exclusive cater is Jeffery Miller Catering and they specialize in farm to table meals.Â
The venue fee is over $2,000 if you want to get married during peak season, but I am not sure what the off season pricing is. They do let you bring in your own alcohol which is such a great savings. Working with the caterer has been so great because they give you a coordinator to go over all the little details and make sure everything is perfect. It really is worth checking out because it is a stunning place and Jeffery Miller Catering has amazing food!
I don’t think that they have any pictures of the barn up on the internet yet, so definitely go check it out!
