Frustrated bride looking for an ELEGANT yet affordable wedding venue in southeastern MA and RI!
I have been looking for a wedding venue even before I got engaged! (I have been with my Fiancé for over three years now, so I knew this day would come….eventually!) I have always dreamed of a winter wedding, so naturally I need an indoor ceremony and reception. I would ideally like to have my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in the same site. I am not the “outdoorsy” type, never been a fan of camping, bugs, or barns. So once again I am have limited my search even more. My fiancé is from Cape Cod, which doesn’t put a Cape Cod wedding out of the question however price is a factor. I have been looking at so many venues that my head is spinning. I am a very organized bride, I have lists and lists of pros and cons for each venue I have seen, they have all let to disappointment. I need enough space for 125 people, high ceilings is a must! Sit-down or station dinner makes no difference to me. I have looked in Newport to all the way north, around south Boston. I’m trying not to stray too far, however I think I might have to! I never thought in a million years that my search would be this difficult! If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it!

Have you checked out all the local churches, community centers, libraries, town halls, & elks clubs? I ended up at the gloucester elks- it’s so gorgeous and affordable. You should be able to get a hefty discount at most places for having your wedding in the winter.

@danicalifornia: Yes I have actually, thanks for the advice. Nothing locally has the charm that I’m looking for. A lot of high-end places are giving discounts, just not enough to seem feasible.

The least expensive places I found on the south shore were Lantana in Randolph(they only have one room downstairs for the ceremony which isn’t any thing special, but not ugly) and The Canoe Club in Bridgewater (they have a nice gazebo outside for ceremony, but if it rains the ceremony, cocktail and reception are all in the same room). I did see most places offer a discount if you will have a Friday evening. Good luck with your search!!

Maybe the indian pond country club? It’s in Kingston I believe. I would look at historic sites and country clubs. Those might be your best bet to have it all in the same location for that amount of people without breaking the bank. Hope that helps!

I don’t know if you’re still looking but The Jones River Trading Co in Kingston is big, beautiful, elegant and I think their prices are decent. The only downside is that you have to use their caterer but their prices aren’t bad either and they have a broad selection. My fiance and I were torn between this place and another place…

Thank you all for your suggestions. I have looked into many of the places that have been mentioned. I am still looking for a winter wedding venue with not much luck. Most of the venues are not big enough to accomidate over 100 people. Thanks again!

@Almost Mrs.P: Yes yes yes! Look at Wannamoisett. They have been AMAZING. No hidden prices, no silly charges for things like cake cutting and whatnot.
We are getting married there June 9 and have had the most awesome experience, and spent less than half of most couples we know!
