Why is it that I can’t find a honeymoon at a reasonable price?! Ok, so I might be a crazy deal finder and I NEED to find something cheaper! I really don’t see myself wanting to spend more than $3000 for the both of us to go somewhere…including flight, hotel, and all other expenses. I’m thinking a cruise might be the best bet but am concerned with drinks and excursions not being included. Also, I don’t know if a cruise is how I want to go. I’ve thought about all-inclusive and I’ve thought about doing it all myself. I need location ideas though…..does anyone have any in mind? I don’t know if I want tropical or European….my FH hasn’t been out of the country so anywhere is an option! Oh so many decisions! HELP!

Oh, goodness, $3000 is plenty for a good honeymoon! Try Cozumel or Puerto Vallarta or Mexico, Cancun, you know. They have good prices and are some of the more affordable all-inclusive vacations. The Caribbean is more expensive. We went with the Dominican Republic and while ours was about a grand more than yours, we had plenty to look at in the 3K and under range. I heard cruises are nice, but I opted out. My parents love them. Europe might be out of your budget unless you do a short trip. And all-inclusive euro trips or to exotic places like Turks and Caicos and really up there on prices. I priced Travelocity’s packages, then called travel agents and asked them to beat that price. Our company’s travel agent was able to do so by about $600, so ask around! Especially since you’re looking to book so early.

I recall Mrs. Penguin did an all-inclusive resort near Playa del Carmen for her honeymoon. I remember thinking it looked incredible and I would guess that depending on the room, could be pretty affordable…Not sure if this link will work but here’s the link to her posting: http://www.weddingbee.com/2008/06/30/excellence-playa-mujeres/

you could TOTALLY do europe for 3k, you just have to do it right! I reccomend Paris, it is really romantic and there is tons to do for not too much money. Also the eiffel tower glitters every hour on the hour after sunset, how can you beat that? If you find a little bnb or hostel with private rooms you could save a lot, and fly to london and take easyjet or ryanair to paris. It is cheaper than the train.
Or you could go to Italy or greece, same thing fly to london then take ryanair. Rome is amazing. I spent 7 months traveling in europe in college and it is so amazing and fun. there are lots of deals to be had pick a place and if you want i’ll give you the inside scoop 🙂

We’re looking at Key West. It’s surprisingly tropical. And cheaper because it’s closer to home and you don’t the the currency exchange you have for Europe.

Europe is ok right now, but only because the currency exchange rate has gone down a lot in the last few months. It was way higher, and if it goes back up your vacation could be a ton more expensive. However, I second Paris, if you’re looking at Europe. It’s not as expensive as other European cities, and you can buy these activity passes (they’re sold all over the city and even online) that gets you into all the tourist locations and unlimited transport on the metro. We found it a ton cheaper to fly into London and take the train, but sometimes there are deals for flying direct into Paris. In fact, if we were on the other side of the country we could have flown from NYC to Paris for only $300 per person.

You should definitely check out any place in Mexico. This may be weird, but because of the travel advisories not as many people are traveling to Mexico and the resorts are lowering their prices. You could completely take advantage of that, like we’re doing. We’re going to the Mayan Riviera, where everyone says its safe, for significantly less $$ than I thought. Allinclusiveoutlet.com has amazing prices and has won a bunch of travel awards.
I’d be wary of a cruise honeymoon if you’ve never been on one before – a lot of people get seasick and I’m not sure I’d want to be worrying about that!
Best of luck!
