@Weddingobsessed:  I grew up in Phildelphia my whole life, I recently moved an hour and a half away right outside of Reading, PA. However my wedding will be back home in Bensalem, PA, which is right outside of Philadelphia. My ceremony and reception will be held at Celebrations, here is their link, very beautiful venue, formal sit down dinner, all inclusive package, you won’t have to do anything but show up!

If cost is not a concern I would check out the Cescaphe venues

Yes, you should check out Cescaphe, and the Ballroom at The Ben, and the Please Touch Museum.

All beautiful, all upscale, all $$$

The Hyatt at the Bellevue is gorgeous. We’ve had a great time dealing with them so far; they’ve been wonderful.

Cescaphe is amazing!  Definately check that out if price is no option ๐Ÿ™‚  Tendenza (also run by the same caterer) is supposedly very nice too, but I personally haven’t been there.

The Down Town Club and Crystal Tea Room are also some other places to check out.

I got married at the Please Touch Museum and Loved it!  Feel free to PM me if you have any  questions.

The lake house in in Perkasie is gorgeous too! It’s further out from the city, but I fell in love with it when I visited, I just couldn’t afford it ๐Ÿ™

Good luck!!  The wedding I went to at the Crystal Tea Room was amazing! The cocktail hour was flippin fantastic!  Honestly, it was better than the dinner!  But they had an entire room devoted to dessert and that was fantastic as well. As far as the Macy’s go, once you’re in the room (which is where you’re going to spend the entire evening) you won’t even realize that its there. Most center city venues don’t have beautiful surroundings, so it’s the insides that count. ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, just thought I’d share, Many of my coworkers have had their weddings at the Ben (as we work at Jefferson) and they have all had wonderful things to say about it.

I shopped for a lot of venues like you too, it was frustrating, but when you find what you love, it’s worth the search!

if you’re venturing out into the burbs, i would check out the Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, DE. Pretty excellent. I’m getting married this weekend at a sister site of theirs, the DuPont Country Club.

here is a blog post of a wedding there:
