CaliforniaBride12:  Sign up at that weddingtonway site. You can get a free fabric sample of the dessy fabric. Look at other designers and colors and get fabric swatches of those too. I think additional swatches are only $5. Just looking real quick I found a Lela Rose dress in a neutral color called Palomino that doesn’t look quite as gold but really pretty.

Not sure how ordering dresses through them is, by my BMs and I used the site to get an idea of what dresses they liked, budgets, etc. Everyone can like and comment on different dresses. Between that and the fabric samples the site gave us what we needed to figure out what dress to go with.

CaliforniaBride12:  My daughter chose Dessy Group’s Venetian Gold. There were two different fabrics, in the gowns. The fabric, for the top of the gown, was some type of satin and more shiny than the bottom, so it looked more like a true gold. We spend 8 hours at 4 different appointments, trying to get gold. Also, a lot of gold’s look like mustard, and she definitely didn’t want that.

We ended up ordering her sister’s gown on rush order, which cost more, but it allowed us to check-out the color and style, since the stores didn’t have it. She was able to buy matching Dessy pocket squares and bow ties, for the men, and also a vest for the groom and ring bearer.

CaliforniaBride12:  I don’t know how to blank-out faces, for privacay, so I can’t send any actual photos. Here’s the one I found on google, however, the color is darker, in real life. She chose a one-shoulder design, since 3 of her gals were small up top, and the strapless designs were not flattering on them. She also had to contend with 2 maids who are quite pear shaped, and the design she went with was one of the few that gave you a lot more room in the bottom. Also, the groom’s 12 year old niece was a bridesmaid (size 0 and tall for her age), so a sexier look was out. The store didn’t have this design or any sample in Venetian Gold, that’s why we rushed ordered a gown for her sister, as our own sample.

The Venetian Gold is what I would call an antique gold. It went perfect with her venue, a historic theatre. I’ll include a photo of the theatre’s ceiling:

Monique Lhuillier makes a color called “cappucino”, but it is actually a pretty gold. Two of my bridesmaids are wearing it in different styles. Below is the color and the gown one of my girls is wearing. That style is discontinued, but they still make the color/fabric.

CaliforniaBride12:  You’re welcome! I know right now they only show sizes small and large  available right now, but they will bring back more sizes! I’ve been watching that dress for months now! Just set up a notification and they’ll email you when they get more in 🙂

CaliforniaBride12: Yes be careful about see-through. NOT what you want ! If they are, for that  price I would  think a light  petticoat/slip  would fix it , from Target or somewhere sensibly priced like  that
