Hey there,
I’m looking at ring designs and wanted to explore some options. One contender that I totally love is set147 from Moissanite Co. I asked for pics over at BTD already, but I wanted to try here too! Per my btd post:
“Does any one have photos of Set147? Im torn between classic simplicity and over the top bling (makes no sense, I know) and I think that over top could very easily be gaudy so I was hoping for real pics of this design.
I’m trying to find designs that are sort of modern, classic, unique and/or bedazzled (blingy). I’d be happy seeing any moissy rings that may embody that all-over-the-place description!
Also how big of a center stone do you think is too big for the linked design above? I wanted a 1.5+ stone but some designs would just look tacky with too big of a stone so I want to see what ‘the masses’ think about what “too big” is for a busy design like above.
Thanks In Advance for any friendly feedback!”
Any advice on stone size or and style? Before looking at designs I was thinking of a 2.5 center, but of course some designs just wouldn’t look good with too much stone. I think this is one of them, so I am willing to compromise stone size though at least 1.5 would be preferable. What about 2 or 2.5…too big?
Hope to get some pics and friendly feedback. ๐

I think 1.5 to 2 carats would be beautiful in set147. I think moissanites tend to look bigger in the sun too because they almost glow from all the light refraction.
Now I know you were talking size in regards to ring design but I have to ask…Are you going to be telling people its a moissanite? Or are you going to let people think its a diamond? Either way doesn’t matter to me, I just ask b/c if you aren’t telling people its a moissanite then people may see it and think you’re rocking $30k on on your finger. Not that it would matter to me, but I know if I did that my family would look at me like we’re nuts, just being we want to sell our condo and get a house and they would wonder what we were thinking spending the money on that instead of a big plot of land ๐ That being said if you are allowing people to believe its a diamond get a size that would relate to your financial means, if you’re sporting the moissy proudly get whatever size makes you happy, i love big bling so i would get a huge rock ๐

Thank you nickels! Several people said 1.5 would be the “perfect” size, but I’m leaning towards 2 personally. I haven’t thought about the social politics of having a non-diamond stone yet. I’m focused on finding something I like right now. You make a good point though, and I probably wouldn’t feign my ability to afford that big of a “diamond” ring when we are saving for a down payment! I think they say anyway that bigger moissy stones can’t really pass as diamonds so I don’t think I have the option even if I wanted it lol!
By The Way, what would you choose for a band?

I would go with 2 carats!!! It’s a subtantial setting so it can take a large center stone ๐
