Hi Lady Bees,
I’ve been searching for a ketubah for a while but haven’t found anything that quite fits our style. We’re looking for something that looks earthy and organic, and most of the stuff I’ve seen is too lush and traditional, or spare and contemporary.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!

It’s hard to know what anyone’s definition of organic is these days.

So this is a really indirect suggestion, so I apologize in advance.
When I read organic, I instantly thought of Berkeley (I’m from Oakland which is really close to Berkely, and is super duper hippiedum). Anywho, there’s a Judaica store in Berkeley called Afikomen…I used to go there often, as do many other people I know. The owners are really nice, and they have a lot of quality stuff.
Anywho, the reason I bring them up is, being that they’re a Jewish store in Berkeley, though they may not have more organic Ketubot, they may know of resources? Or may have the ability to point you in a better direction. (They have a website that can easily be found on google).
I hope that you’re able to find something along the lines of what you’re hoping for! Good luck with the search!

can you define organic? are you looking for something with less color? when i think of organic i think outdoorsy but that might not mean what you mean 🙂 Here is ours and although it has a lot of colors it really reminds me of the outdoors.

I saw this ketubah and loved it, it matches our invitations, but my husband didn’t love it so we went with something else.

Thank you for the suggestions, everyone! And for the lovely photos as well!
Afikomen seems like a very nice store. They showed only one ketubah on their website, and it was quite pretty! I may contact them to see what else they might have.
I think I would like something depicting nature, probably a tree of life, that looks like it was made of natural materials, or made in a simple or natural way. So yes, maybe less color is better, but not necessarily.
To give you an idea, for the wedding, we are showcasing herbs (I’ll be carrying an herbal bouquet) and wood. We’re getting married in a barn in Vermont.
I’ve found one that is a step in the right direction, but maybe still a little too “busy”. I’ll live with the idea of it for a while. Here it is:

Thanks, all you wonderful bees! We’ve decided to go with Etsy seller artseed. She custom designs and paints beautiful ketubot. Check out her work- she’s a great artist. She has been so professional, efficient, and communicative so far. Can’t wait for the final result!

I found these on etsy.com and LOVED them. I think we’re going to go with one from this artist.
