MrsA1222:  I have the Medela PISA (got it through insurance) and I like it. I also love the freestyle (have used my sisters) especially since it’s more portable. I have heard it’s not as good as the PISA  for everyday use though (e.g., for people pumping at work or exclusively pumping).

FWIW, the LC who ran my breastfeeding class highly recommends Medela over Ameda. She said there’s zero concern over the whole open vs. closed system thing. She actually said the whole thing is a marketing tactic.  Who knows, though. I know many  many people who have used Medela and never had an issue!

MrsA1222:  I am in Canada as well and have used both a Medela and Ameda. My LO was a premie so I used the Medela in the hospital for a couple weeks. It was sufficient and got the job done. When I got home, I decided to purchase the Ameda Purely Yours partially due to the closed system, reviews, and price. Again its decent and does a good job. I usually pump at least 6 -8 times a day around 15 mins each and get a good quantity to feed my baby..he eats 3.5 oz per bottle a minimum of 8 times a day. Its easy to clean but my only complaint  is that its noisy. I just throw a pillow over it to reduce the noise. Been using it for about a month and I’m happy with it.
