@alg0188:  Montreal.  Great weather, European style, and shouldn’t be a budget buster.  Going to Europe in the summer is the most expensive time to go.  Going to Brazil or Jamaica that time of year will be unbelieveably hot.

I’d do Vancouver, or a combination of Montreal and Toronto.  Those three cities are all very different to one another, but have a lot in common with other International cities (Vancouver, in many ways, is quite a bit like Sydney), and are a lot more affordable than trying to go to Europe. In July, plane tickets to Europe will eat almost all of your budget.

@alg0188:  What’s your budget and how long do you want your honeymoon to be?  I’d recommend Hawaii…there’s a lot of history there and you will never get bored with Island hopping.  On Oahu there’s the Polynesian museum which is pretty cool, road to Hana drive in Maui if you’re feeling adventurous, and of course gorgeous beaches everywhere!  If you’re going for more than 1 week, I’d recommend flying to Oahu then Maui and maybe Kauai last.  Hawaii can be what you make it, relaxing or full of activities and nightlife.  We went for a 2 week vacation the year we got engaged, and it was amazing!

If you are bound and determined to do the beach thing then I would rec Costa Rica where you can do a few days at the beach and a few days in the rainforest.  Very different and should be easy on your budget.

Toronto can get expensive fast.

If I were you I would get the bigger bang for your buck by doing an all inclusive somewhere.

@alg0188:  I think you can def do hawaii for 3-4K for 8 days!  We got married July 2011 and went on our honeymoon right after the wedding.  It was a 2 week trip, the first week we spent in St. Barth’s and the 2nd week we did a Charter sail through the BVI.  That’s another option if you love water =)

@alg0188:  I did book everything myself. I opted for inexpensive lodging (i.e. hostels and b&bs) so that we would have plenty of money left over for sight seeing and traveling within the country. It actually workd out fantastically for us, we met some really great people and most of the rooms we stayed in were very private. We actually got private apartments at two different places! It isn’t the style of trip for everyone, but we got to see and do SO MUCH.

@alg0188:  We’re having your honeymoon next July and doing a European Cruise and spending 2 days in Rome before and 3 days in Barcelona after.
