Tanzanite. It comes in many shades of blue/purple blue.

I like tsavorite garnets a lot better than the demantoids. Tourmalines have a lot of pretty colors, too. Where are you planning on purchasing your gemstone?

The ring you posted as one you are inspired by reminds me of the London blue topaz jewelry I have. I can’t speak for longevity as I have only had the stones for a short while, but the color is really mesmerizing, especially in yellow gold (in my opinion.)

lisag103 :  I love London Blue Topaz. The color is so lovely and rich, and they seem to have a lovely glow down into the stone. You can’t fault the price, either — ha, ha!

I have a London Blue solitaire. I don’t wear it every day, as I switch my rings in and out. But I’ve had it for around 4 or 5 years now, and the stone still looks great.

If you’re looking for loose stones, GemSelect might be a good site to check out. I’ve purchased a few stones from them, and I have had good experiences. The only thing with that site is that you have to study the online pics carefully to be on the lookout for windowing, extinction, and color zoning. I know they have London Blue Topaz, as I’ve purchased from them in the past. There are also different cutters, who sell directly. I am not sure if they have London Blues, though. I never checked.

Tourmaline is also a gorgeous stone. I would love to get a rich green one eventually, but am still on the look-out for it. The hunt continues — ha, ha!

Not sure what kind of blue hue you are looking for, but my center is a Chatham created sapphire that I bought from africagems.com

It is 9×7 and I think it was around $1k? I don’t remember anymore. Africa gems has a really good return policy (but be sure to double check before you buy). What we did 3 years ago was buy about 4 stones and return the 3 that I didn’t like.

I just did an aqua cut by the guys from reddit/gemstones.  They always have stones listed for sale or you can request from u/earlysong a google docs to request a quote.  I think that a lab spinel or lab Alexandrite would be a good choice.  I have seen one from Stag & Finch that is beautiful.  They might be a little harder wearing then the London Blue Topaz.
