Hi everyone! I’m newly engaged and new to WeddingBee, nice to meet you!
I just got engaged on Saturday and the day was absolutely perfect. Fiance presented me with a beautiful moissanite from MossCo which was exactly what I wanted. I loved the ring when I first saw it and couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was in person after swooning after it online!
I texted some friends who asked a picture of the ring and one of my good friends made a quick comment: “Jesus! that’s huge!” He probably didn’t think much of saying that but it really stuck with me. Since then, I’ve grown a little self-conscious that it’s too big and blingy. I have no intentions of passing it off as a diamond – I want to tell anyone who asks about moissanite because I think it’s awesome and am totally secure in that.
It’s a 1.4ct (6.5mm) cushion cut with halo (band is palladium). I LOVE the halo and pave band and so does Fiance, though I do think the halo makes it look larger. My ring size is 6, I’m 5’10” tall, and Fiance thinks it’s the perfect size for me. I guess I’m just not used to wearing something so sparkly (I have no diamonds or other moissy jewelry).
Anyone ever feel self-conscious about their ring at first? Maybe I just need to get used to it!

I think that ring is beautiful and not too big at all! You said it was a guy that said it was huge? I think guys are just clueless because my cousin always tells me mine is too big and I only have a .75 center stone =P Don’t let people make you feel self conscious of your ring!!

First of all, congrats on the engagement!
I have noticed that rings photograph much larger than they appear in person. It’s like the camera adds a carat to the stone! And just looking at your picture, I would have guessed your center stone is bigger than 1.4ct.
With anything, your eye gets used to looking at something over time and it won’t look so big.
You have to ignore the snarky comments. There’s really nothing you can do about them except just say how much you love your ring (which is beautiful BTW!)
I was given a family 1.5ct diamond and at first I thought it was huge. Now it just looks normal sized 🙂 You do get used to it.

First of all, congrats! And welcome to the Bee! You’re going to love it here….
Second, forget about him. Guys don’t think about stuff. People are always going to think things, it’s too big, it’s too small, they don’t like the halo, they prefer yellow gold… because everyone has their own preference. All that matters is that you love it. And it’s gorgeous, by the way! Congrats again!

He might’ve meant that as a compliment, too! It’s gorgeous, but it’s definitely not delicate, lol :). I’m guessing he thinks that bigger = better, so he wanted to compliment its size. You should totally feel great about your ring, it’s so pretty!

@MissRhino: Thank you! Haha, yes, it was a guy. The general response from female friends so far has been “S***! That’s gorgeous!” They may just be more polite, though.

@country chic: AHH, it’s not just my crazy mind thinking it looks larger in pictures! It totally does. Glad to hear of your experience, it helps. 🙂

Congrats and welcome!! 🙂
There is always going to be that one person that makes an inappropriate comment. Just enjoy your gorgeous ring and this wonderful time and don’t give anyone else another thought. 🙂

Congrats and welcome! Your ring is perfect and dont let anyone burst your happy bubble. Just tell them thank you and walk away.

Your ring is perfect. It’s easy for us to misinterpret comments people make. It was probably his awkward attempt at a compliment.

It’s very pretty, and the size works well with your hand. And it does take a little while to get used to the bling! 🙂
