The reception location is almost booked. It is in downtown Boston and there’s a Red Sox game that evening too. Everyone keeps telling me the guests will suck it up & deal with the traffic but it certainly makes me nervous.
The venue will allow us to have the ceremony there but I’m very attached to the idea of the ceremony being in a church. I’m generally inarticulate & really not religious so I can’t explain at all why this is important to me. There are two church options. One church is a block from my mom’s house and my family used to go there when I was young. It’s a 25 minute drive from the reception location (that’s on an average day – Boston traffic is predictable only in being bad). This church is very nice & also disorganized, but they’re okay with it that my fiance isn’t totally strongly Christian (he’s a lapsed Christian & his religion is Daoism) .
Another church is about 5 minutes from reception venue, also a childhood church of mine. This church is much stricter in general & they want both people to profess as Christian. FI probably would go for it & do it if it was important to me. But I’m frustrating both of us b/c I can’t explain why it’s important to me.
In case you can’t tell I’m at a loss for how to make everyone, including myself, happy with the arrangement. Suggestions?
Edited to add pictures…
25 minute drive:
5 minute drive (but either way we would cover the transportation for our guests)
